Goldhofer heavy haul equipment also of interest in Asia!

Heavy-duty transporter from South Germany takes desulphurizing plant to Yokohama

Even in the Far East, Goldhofer AG located in the city of Memmingen (Allgäu), is known as a specialist for heavy haul operations. The Thai Silamas Transport Co., Ltd, one of the leading heavy haul companies in Asia, has made two spectacular transports with the Goldhofer self-propelled modular systems PST: First, an entire desulphurizing plant to Japan, second, an 80 metre long reactor vessel the Thailand.

The desulphurizing plant was destined for the 233.000 m2 production plant of the Nisshin Oillio Group, Ltd. in Yokohama (Japan). This Asian major group claims to be the biggest manufacturer of edible oils in Japan and operates there 19 oil filling plants with a silo capacity of 111.000 tonnes. They had to transport two towers that were 32 metres high, 20 metres wide and weighing 1400 tonnes. Silamas realized these transports with the Goldhofer self-propelled heavy-duty modular transporters PST/SL. Due to the width of the tower of nearly 20 metres they operated two 32-axle self-propelled modules in a side-by-side combination.
Another major challenge for the heavy hauling specialist was transporting an 80 metre long reactor weighing 792 tonnes, from the port of Map Ta Phut to the production plant of Slot Nankai, Ltd, in Chonburi (Thailand). For this, the Silamas transport team chose a self-propelled combination type PST/SL consisting of two drive heads with 490 HP each and 2x26 axle lines coupled side by side.
„Not only Silamas but also our systems were absolutely reliable and the customers were very satisfied with the performance“, said Stefan Fuchs, chairman of the board of Goldhofer AG, happily about the successful major projects realized with Goldhofer vehicels.
Silamas Transport Co. Ltd consequently operates Goldhofer quality vehicles from Germany for their heavy haul operations. The Thai specialist owns a total of 60 axle lines and has ordered another 96 lines recently. Among these there are 24 axle lines with the new multi-way steering system PST/SL-E. After foundation of the company in 1990, Silamas was concentrating more and more on heavy and heaviest haul transports and in the meantime they rank among the major heavy hauling specialists in Asia.
Over and over again the streets and small passages challenged the 1000 tonnes giant with its length of 80 metres and a height of approx. 10,5 metres.
