Goldhofer delivers 136 axle lines to ENTREC Transportation Services Ltd. for operation in Canada

Goldhofer heavy-duty road trailers demand as never before.

“ENTREC Transportation Services Ltd.“ is the new face to an Alberta based business with a long history of being recognized as one of the leading operations in the Canadian specialized heavy transportation industry. ENTREC specializes in the loading, unloading, transportation and positioning of overweight and oversized loads for the oil and gas, mining and power generation industries.

Originally founded as Schell Equipment Ltd. in 1994 and purchased by Transco Energy Services Ltd. in 2006, the business changed to the ENTREC brand in April, 2008 in order to better communicate the specialized services it is able to deliver.

ENTREC stands for:

Energy Transportation Rigging and Engineering Company

ENTREC is recognized as having one of the best maintained and most diversified equipment fleets in the Canadian heavy transportation industry. This fleet includes 25 heavy-duty tractors and over 30 conventional heavy haul trailers. Originally, there were 24 axle lines of Goldhofer heavy-duty modular trailers (type THP/HL) included in the equipment fleet.

Recently, ENTREC invested over 6 million Euros to expand their heavy-duty modular trailer fleet by purchasing an additional 136 axle lines of the same trailer type. This acquisition catapulted ENTREC to become one of the largest heavy transportation operators in North America. The equipment acquired by ENTREC includes intermediate platforms, 2-, 4- and 6-axle bogies of the THP/HL series with a total capacity of approximately 5,200 tons.

With over 75 employees and 60 years of experience at the management level, ENTREC’s most valuable assets are its people and their experience in the heavy transportation business. “We have a significant amount of experience completing extremely complex tasks and know what type of technical equipment is required to be an industry leader“ explains Brad Hillgardner of ENTREC.

ENTREC’s heavy-duty modular trailer combinations have a special wheelbase for use in the Canadian Province of Alberta. The modified wheelbase is necessary in order to reach the maximum axle load permitted on public roads. The heavy-duty trailer combination is based on a technical load per axle line of 36 tons and can manage over 18 tons at a speed of 80 km/h. The hydraulic axle compensation for driving under and taking on the load is +/- 300 mm.

A special requirement of ENTREC was that the equipment had to function perfectly and without any incidents even at extremely low temperatures due to the harsh winter conditions experienced in northern Canada. ENTREC has operated their heavy-duty modular trailer combinations at temperatures below – 45° Celsius. “This equipment is second to none when it comes to transporting heavy loads under extreme conditions (temperatures below zero, uneven roads in summer, iced-up roads in winter, etc.)” states Hillgardner.
